Told you. I'll see what our options are. Thanks, pgasniper!

No problem. Well, now we at least have an answer from VIZ themselves, and how they currently have no plans on translating it.

Think there's a chance they'll pick it up in the future?
  • ~Dakota/1dbad on 2011-Jun-13 22:22:41 ~Dakota/1dbad said

@Kaier Possibly. They did say currently, after all. Even if they do release it eventually though, it's probably a long's way off, unfortunately...

Could someone try to email them and see if they'll release the FireRed/LeafGreen and Emerald arcs? I'm pretty sure they won't, but it would be nice to have confirmation. I already asked them myself but have yet to get a response, so I thought if more people would do it then surely one of us will finally get a reply. :P

This is what I mean. When they say "there are no current plans," that does not always mean cancellation. Though for some reason, I'm not bothered with the plot hole thing..(probably because I already know what happened...) Despite that, I really hope for the translation of the R/S, Fr/Lg, and Emerald chapter. :Ua

I got exactly the same response. But when it's CURRENTLY, there's some hope. So now it's important for all of us to give Viz feedback about this NOW. They can still release it in the future, if they want to, now that they have showed that they can publish arcs as single series. The highest possibility would be if there were remakes of Ruby and Sapphire in the future. 2012 would be a good year since it's ten years after their original release.

I send Viz a question about FireRed/LeafGreen and Emerald arcs. It might be possible that they answered me and pgasniper in the first place just because we both asked it at the same time. So it really is better if we all take part in this.

Hmm... I think they better translate the R/S arc. THAT was UNDOUBTEDLY the best arc of PokeSpec by far.

I did follow up and ask about the FR/LG and Emerald story arcs, so I'll post a reply if I get one.

Well, I guess I now know how it feels to be a part of the EarthBound fanbase.
  • JB2448 on 2011-Jun-14 08:38:36 JB2448 said

Nintendo is the only reason I'm not hosting an EarthBound website right now. Even if they release the game on Virtual Console at this point, I'm still keeping this one around.
The difference between this and EarthBound is that VIZ recognized that arc 4 exists, but came out and said they're not doing anything with it. EarthBound fans envy that type of official statement.
  • ReiZerou on 2011-Jun-14 12:46:55 ReiZerou said

Could you tell me what EarthBound is and what it has to do with this?
  • pgasniper on 2011-Jun-14 14:55:51 pgasniper said

EarthBound was a game released on the SNES.  The Japanese name for the series is Mother.  Of the three games only the second one was released in North America.   The main character Ness and the main character from mother 3 Lucas are better know from their appearance in the Smash Bros games.

EarthBound is rather famous for having one of the most devoted fanbases around.  To the point of fan translating the third game.

I was just making a connection because both EarthBound and pokemon special have a rocky translation history.  (and Brawl spoiling Mother 3 like how D&P/P will spoil the FR/LG arc)

The pokemon connections also go deeper with Creatures Inc formally being APE Inc.  And Mewtwo's design supposedly being based off of the final boss of Mother 1.  But I think I've rambled on enough.

    I got an answer! http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/ab52/1dbad/save.jpg

They didn't directly say it, but they confirmed they don't plan on releasing the FireRed/LeafGreen or Emerald arcs either. They said the reason behind it is because they are trying to "relaunch" the series with the Diamond and Pearl series.

They did say if enough people demand the volumes inbetween that we might get them though!

I question how someone can relaunch a series...when they're already relaunching it!
  • The Violent Tomboy on 2011-Jun-14 18:14:25 The Violent Tomboy said

I still question them relaunching the DP/Pt arc when it got released in America when the hype was long over and in three month intervals.

I question relaunching/launching a series 5 days before North American release of Black and White. D/P/P was old news when they launched it... But that's just my thoughts...

That doesn't mean anything. It's good that they recognized that the fans want it again, but I'd treat everything that VIZ says with some healthy skepticism.

I don't think they are going to translate Ruby & Sapphire, FireRed & LeafGreen, or Emerald. Albeit, these are my favorite arcs, but Viz is starting to do the same mistakes that 4Kids did with the Pokemon anime and Yu-Gi-Oh!. They are restricted by the same rules and these arcs are, by far, the most violent and gory sagas in the series. It's going to take a lot to make them translate it.
  • Lolipiece on 2011-Dec-06 21:15:44 Lolipiece said

    Not really...

I've read DPA and it's pretty violent, too. Went 99% uncensored (as far as I know), and they even kept the part where they called Dialga and Palkia gods...

If anything, all they really have to remove is the deaths (though Norman's will be really hard) and erase the blood on Ruby's face...
  • B-st on 2011-Dec-07 21:53:34 B-st said

I withdraw my statement. I just realized that there are certain things that happened in the DP and Platinum sagas that would relate back to the RS, FrLg, and Emerald sagas. The biggest thing, being Sird's re-introduction and her explanation as to why she was not dealing with the Sinnoh Pokedex owners and Gym leaders as Jupiter and the rest have.

I've run into wild Jigglypuff on route 14, Oddish can be caught in White forest (white version only of course), and Poliwag can be caught in a variety of places with the super rod. Pikachu is the only one you can't catch in Unova but it's a pretty popular Pokemon and the series mascot so I think it's even be popular in the Pokemon world (there's big balloon Pikachu in Nimbasa). You all should be more like black and study harder.

Duke R said: Uhum. It's only a sequel to the Diamond & Pearl chapter, the main characters didn't need to be introduced and almost all of their Pokémon were already caught. This chapter was short, but it had the plot flowing perfectly, it's as good as the others.

Lolipiece said: Exactly. The Platinum chapter is focused on Platinum's search for Paka and Uji, and the Battle Frontier is just something on the side, which makes it a reverse of the Emerald chapter.

ReiZerou said: @VGBM, That's a lot of thoughts. Akuroma (the lab coat gyu) isn't a new professor nor is Bianca. Bianca is professor Juniper's assistant and she's delivering the Pokémon in her place. The Gym Leader is Elesa, because her name is in the cast list of the trailer. It appears that it really is frozen but we will only know for sure when the games come out. If it is frozen it's nice that we can still go to those places. Still a little over month left.
